DIVINE CONNECTION DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY OLADELE T•E
THEME: BE THE NEEDED ONE!
TEXT: [AMP] PROVERBS 22:29
"Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men."
One of the greatest secrets to becoming relevant in life is to develop yourself into someone whose presence brings value, whose contributions make a difference, and whose abilities are needed wherever opportunities exist. In a world where people are constantly searching for solutions to problems, the person who possesses the capacity to provide those solutions will always have an advantage. To be the needed one means to become a person whose skills, knowledge, character, and abilities are valuable enough to attract opportunities, command respect, and make meaningful contributions wherever they are found. It means becoming a solution provider rather than merely another person seeking solutions.
Our anchor scripture reveals an important principle about distinction and relevance. It says that a person who is diligent and skillful in their business will stand before kings and not obscure men. Notice that the scripture highlights two important qualities: diligence and skillfulness.
Diligence speaks of your commitment to your responsibilities, while skillfulness speaks of your ability to execute those responsibilities excellently. In other words, it is not enough to be committed to what you do; you must also develop the competence required to do it well. Nevertheless, remember that your value as a person is not determined by how useful you are to others. Your worth comes from God, who created you in His image. Becoming the needed one is not about earning human acceptance or proving your worth; it is about faithfully developing and deploying the gifts God has entrusted to you. Beloved, you have a responsibility to develop what God has deposited within you. Do not bury your talents beneath excuses, laziness, fear, or the comfort of familiarity. The fact that you possess a gift does not automatically mean you have developed the skill required to maximise it. Potential must be nurtured, abilities must be sharpened, and opportunities must be approached with preparation.
The world is full of people looking for opportunities, but you can distinguish yourself by becoming someone who is prepared to make the most of them. Do not spend all your time searching for a seat at the table while neglecting the development required to contribute meaningfully when you arrive. Work on yourself. Improve your skills. Strengthen your character. Deepen your knowledge. Be faithful in little responsibilities, and approach every assignment with excellence. Remember, the goal is not merely to be seen by influential people but to become equipped to serve effectively when you stand before them.
PRAYER POINTS:
Father, I thank You for the gifts, abilities, and potentials You have deposited within me.
Father, Deliver me from laziness, complacency, and every attitude that hinders my growth.
Father, Grant me the wisdom to identify my areas of responsibility and the discipline to develop the skills required to fulfil them.
Father, Help me to combine diligence with skillfulness, competence with integrity, and knowledge with humility. Father, Make me a solution provider in my generation, and let my life become a blessing to my family, workplace, community, and the body of Christ.
