THEME: UNDERSTANDING THE GRACE OF GOD!
TEXT: [NKJV] TITUS 2:11-12
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, [12] teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age."

The grace of God is one of the greatest expressions of God’s love and mercy toward humanity. Grace is God’s unmerited favor, freely given to us not because we have earned it, but because of His goodness and love toward us. However, grace is much more than receiving blessings, escaping consequences, or obtaining favor. Grace is also God’s divine empowerment to live a life that pleases Him. Our text makes this very clear. It says that the grace of God “brings salvation” and has appeared to all people. But it does not stop there. The same grace that saves us also teaches us. This means that genuine grace does not encourage careless living; it produces transformed living.

Grace does not give us permission to continue in sin. Rather, grace gives us the power and instruction to turn away from sin and pursue righteousness. Many people understand grace only from the perspective of what God gives them, but Scripture presents grace as something that also changes them. The grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. In other words, grace trains us to say NO to whatever contradicts God's will. There are things that may be attractive to the flesh but destructive to our spiritual destiny. There are habits, relationships, attitudes, desires, and lifestyles that God expects us to abandon. Grace gives us the strength to walk away. You cannot truly encounter God's grace and remain comfortable with a lifestyle that continually dishonors Him.

When grace enters a person's life, it begins to produce a new desire for God, righteousness, holiness, and obedience. God's grace teaches you what to accept and what to reject. It teaches you what to pursue and what to abandon. It teaches you how to handle blessings without becoming proud, how to handle trials without becoming bitter, and how to handle opportunities without compromising your values. Sometimes, the grace of God will not give you what you want because it is teaching you what you need. Sometimes grace will close a door because that door would have taken you away from God's purpose. Sometimes grace will convict you when everyone else is applauding you. Sometimes grace will correct you when you would rather be celebrated. This is just because Grace does not merely make life easier but rather makes you better.

Father, help me to understand Your grace correctly. Deliver me from every mentality that treats grace as an excuse for sin or disobedience.

Father, Teach me to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. Give me the strength to say no to every temptation that seeks to pull me away from Your purpose for my life.

Father, Help me to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.
