THEME: MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO LIVE IN PEACE!
TEXT: [NKJV] HEBREWS 12:14
"Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord."

Peace is one of the beautiful expressions of a life that is being governed by God. As believers, we are not merely called to enjoy peace when everything around us is peaceful; we are called to pursue peace and make every effort to live peaceably with others. Our opening Scripture does not say, “Live in peace only with those who agree with you,” or “Live in peace with people who treat you well.” It says, “Pursue peace with all people.” This places a responsibility on us to become intentional about maintaining peaceful relationships as much as it depends on us.

There are times when peace requires patience. There are times when it requires humility. There are times when it requires overlooking an offence, choosing our words carefully, refusing to retaliate, forgiving someone, or walking away from an unnecessary argument. Not every disagreement deserves a response, and not every provocation deserves retaliation. A person who is determined to live in peace understands that winning an argument is not always as important as preserving a relationship. There are battles that should not be fought, conversations that should not be prolonged, and offences that should not be carried in the heart.

The Bible says in Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Notice the expression, “as much as depends on you.” This acknowledges that you cannot control the actions, attitudes, or responses of other people. You cannot force everyone to love you, understand you, agree with you, or treat you fairly. However, you can take responsibility for your own conduct. Jesus demonstrated this perfectly. He was compassionate, yet He did not compromise the truth. He forgave His persecutors, yet He boldly confronted hypocrisy. He loved people, yet He remained completely committed to the Father's will. Therefore, make every effort to live in peace. Do not be quick to take offence. Do not make every disagreement a personal battle. Do not allow someone else's bad behaviour to determine your own character. Do not permit bitterness to take root in your heart because of what someone has done to you.

PRAYER POINTS:
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for calling me to pursue peace and holiness.
Father, Give me the grace to live peaceably with all people as much as it depends on me.
Father, Deliver me from anger, bitterness, pride, unforgiveness, revenge, and every attitude that produces unnecessary conflict.
Father, Help me to control my words and respond to people with wisdom, patience, humility, and love.
Father, Give me the grace to forgive quickly, apologise when I am wrong, pursue reconciliation where possible, and maintain godly boundaries where necessary.
Lord, let Your peace rule in my heart. May my life become an instrument of peace wherever I go.
Father, Let my relationships, conversations, decisions, and conduct reflect the character of Christ. May people encounter Your peace through me.
