"As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness!"
There is a profound connection between knowing Jesus better and experiencing the fullness of what He has made available to us. The Christian life is not merely about knowing facts about Jesus; it is about developing a deeper, more intimate and personal relationship with Him. Peter reveals that as we know Jesus better, His divine power supplies us with everything we need to live a godly life. This means that God has not called us to live the Christian life by our human strength alone. He has made His divine resources available to us through our relationship with Christ. Notice that the Scripture says, “As we know Jesus better.” This suggests continuous growth. You can know Jesus today and still know Him more deeply tomorrow. There are dimensions of His character, love, wisdom, power, faithfulness and goodness that you can continually discover. Knowing Jesus better will definitely change the way you live.
When you know Him as your Provider, you learn to trust Him even when resources appear limited. When you know Him as your Healer, you learn to depend upon His power in times of weakness. When you know Him as your Shepherd, you become less anxious about the uncertainties of the journey. When you know Him as your Peace, you can remain confident even in the midst of troubling circumstances. The more you know Jesus, the more your confidence in Him grows. Many believers desire the benefits of their relationship with Christ without pursuing deeper knowledge of Christ Himself. But the greatest treasure of Christianity is not merely what Jesus can give you; it is Jesus Himself.
Your knowledge of Jesus should therefore go beyond what you have heard from others. You must personally encounter Him through His Word, prayer, worship, obedience and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The more you expose yourself to His Word and allow it to shape your heart, the more clearly you understand His nature and His will for your life. Furthermore, knowing Jesus better produces transformation. You cannot consistently encounter Christ and remain exactly the same. His character begins to influence your character. His priorities begin to influence your priorities. His love begins to influence how you treat people. His holiness challenges you to abandon sinful patterns. His wisdom teaches you how to navigate life. This is why spiritual growth must be intentional. As you know Jesus better, your faith will become stronger, your walk will become deeper, your character will become more Christlike, and your confidence in God's faithfulness will become greater. The deeper your knowledge of Jesus, the stronger your foundation for godly living.
PRAYER POINTS:
Father, I thank You for the privilege of knowing Jesus Christ. Give me a deeper hunger and desire to know Him more intimately.
Father, Open my understanding to discover more of His love, wisdom, character, power and goodness.
Father, Help me to grow beyond superficial knowledge and develop a genuine and consistent relationship with Christ.
Father, Let Your Word transform my mind, let Your Spirit guide my steps, and let Your character be increasingly revealed through my life.
Father, By Your divine power, equip me with everything I need to live a godly life. May I never become satisfied with my present level of spiritual growth. Take me deeper in You, and let my life continually reflect the nature of Christ.
