THEME: WHEN GOD OPENS YOUR MOUTH, PRAISE HIM!
TEXT: [NKJV] LUKE 1:64
"Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, praising God."
When the angel Gabriel announced that Zechariah and Elizabeth would have a son in their old age, Zechariah struggled to believe the promise. Because of his unbelief, he became unable to speak until the day God's word concerning the child was fulfilled. For months, Zechariah remained silent. He could not speak, but God was still speaking. He could not use his mouth, but God's plan was still progressing. He could not express himself verbally, but heaven had not cancelled what God had promised him. Then came the appointed moment. When John was born and Zechariah confirmed that the child's name was to be John, immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed. And what was the first thing that came out of his mouth? Praise!
The Bible says, “and he spoke, praising God.” This is significant. When God gives you your voice back, use it to glorify Him. When God brings you out of a difficult season, don't forget to praise Him. When God turns your captivity around, let your testimony become a song of praise. When God answers the prayer you have waited so long to see answered, give Him the glory. Zechariah did not use his restored voice to complain about the months he had spent in silence. He did not begin by explaining his frustration. He opened his mouth and praised God. If God has given you a mouth, let your mouth become an instrument of praise.
There is enough negativity around us already. As believers, we must be intentional about what proceeds from our lips. Your mouth can magnify your problems or magnify your God. Your words can strengthen fear or strengthen faith. Your mouth can spread discouragement or release encouragement. Your tongue can become an instrument of complaint or an instrument of praise. This does not mean pretending that problems do not exist. It means refusing to allow your problems to become greater in your consciousness than the God who is able to handle them. Praise does not deny the existence of the problem; praise declares the supremacy of God over the problem. The God who opened Zechariah's mouth is still the God who can bring an end to seasons of silence, limitation, and waiting. Your present situation is not the final chapter. God is still working. His word is still alive and His promises are still sure. When your appointed season comes, open your mouth and testify of His goodness!
PRAYER POINTS:
Father, I thank You because You are faithful and dependable. Thank You for every battle You have fought for me, every door You have opened, every danger You have delivered me from, and every blessing You have brought into my life.
Lord, let my mouth continually become an instrument of praise. Deliver me from the habit of murmuring, complaining, and magnifying my problems above Your greatness.
Father, Give me a heart that recognizes Your goodness even in seasons of waiting.
Father, When You bring me into my season of manifestation, let me never forget to return all the glory to You.
