THEME: KNOWING HOW GOD WORKS!
TEXT: [NIV] ROMANS 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
There is great confidence that comes from knowing how God works. One of the greatest challenges believers sometimes face is trying to understand what God is doing while they are going through situations that appear confusing, painful, delayed, or completely different from what they expected. However, our confidence in God should not be based only on what we can presently see. There are times when we may not understand His process, but we can still trust His purpose. Romans 8:28 gives us this assurance: “We know that in all things God works for the good…” Notice that Scripture does not say that all things are good. It says that God works in all things for good. This distinction is very important.
Some experiences may not be good in themselves. Disappointments are not good. Delays are not necessarily good. Rejections, unexpected changes, losses, opposition, and difficult seasons are not things we would ordinarily choose. Yet, God is powerful enough to work through these things and bring about His good purpose. One of the realities of walking with God is learning that God can be working even when you cannot see Him working. There may be seasons when heaven appears silent and nothing seems to be changing. You may pray and still see no immediate answer. You may believe God for something and encounter circumstances that seem to contradict His promises. But the absence of visible movement does not mean the absence of divine activity. God does some of His greatest work behind the scenes.
When you belong to God, He can use experiences that were never part of your original plan to accomplish something greater than you imagined. A closed door can redirect you. A delay can prepare you. A difficult season can develop you. An unexpected change can reposition you. A disappointment can teach you something that success alone could never teach you. An opposition can reveal strength you did not know you possessed. This does not mean that every painful experience was directly caused by God. Rather, it means that nothing is beyond His ability to redeem and work into His purpose. There will be moments when you will not understand what God is doing. In those moments, remember: God knows what you do not know. God sees what you cannot see. God understands what you cannot understand. God is working even when you cannot perceive His activity. And because He is faithful, you can continue to trust Him. God is at work. And when He has finished what He is doing, you will understand why you had to trust Him through the process.
PRAYER POINTS:
Father, I thank You because You are the God who works in all things for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.
Father, Help me to trust You even when I do not understand what You are doing.
Father, Give me grace not to judge Your faithfulness by my present circumstances. Teach me to recognize Your hand at work in every season of my life.
Father, Help me to remain obedient and steadfast while You work out Your purpose concerning my life.
Father, Turn every situation that the enemy intended for evil into an instrument for the fulfillment of Your purpose.
