DIVINE CONNECTION DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY OLADELE T•E
THEME: PURPOSE AND DESTINY!
TEXT: [NKJV] JEREMIAH 1:5
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
Your life is not an accident. You are not merely a product of circumstances, and your existence is not without divine intention. Before Jeremiah ever had an opportunity to discover who he was or what he would become, God had already spoken about His purpose for his life. God said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” This reveals something profound about purpose: God's knowledge of you precedes your formation. Before Jeremiah became visible to the world, he was already known to God. Before he had a name among men, he had an assignment with God. Before he could make any decision concerning his future, God had already established a divine intention for his life.
This does not mean that every detail of a person's earthly journey is mechanically predetermined. Rather, Scripture reveals that God creates human beings with purpose and calls them to discover, embrace, and fulfill His will for their lives. One of the greatest mistakes a person can make is to define purpose solely by personal ambition, popularity, possessions, or achievement. Purpose is not simply about what you want to become; it is about what God created and called you to become. This means that the discovery of purpose begins with knowing the One who created you. When you know God, you begin to understand that your gifts, experiences, opportunities, relationships, and abilities can be surrendered to something greater than personal gratification. You were created to glorify God and to serve His purposes on the earth.
Purpose speaks of the divine intention behind your existence and assignment; destiny speaks broadly of the future and outcome toward which your life is directed under God's providence. There is a difference between existing and living purposefully. A person can be alive and yet fail to intentionally pursue the purpose God has placed before them. That is why discovering purpose is not enough; there must also be a commitment to walk in it. The God who knew you before your beginning is able to lead you through every stage of your journey. Therefore, arise with confidence in God, walk in obedience, develop what He has placed in you, and remain faithful to His calling. Your assignment may be bigger than your present location. Your influence may extend farther than you currently imagine. But wherever God leads you, remember this: You were known before you were formed, set apart for God's purposes, and called to make a difference in your generation.
PRAYER POINTS:
Father, I thank You because You knew me before I was formed and because my life is not without purpose.
Father, Help me to discover and understand Your purpose for my life.
Father, Give me wisdom to recognize what You have placed inside me and grace to develop and use it for Your glory.
Father, Deliver me from distractions, fear, comparison, wrong priorities, and every influence that would make me abandon Your will.
Father, Give me courage to obey You even when I do not understand everything ahead of me.
Father, Help me to remain faithful in every season of preparation and to recognize that every season has something to teach me.
